The American Camellia Society will hold its 2026 National Convention in Charleston, SC, February 19-22. Hosted by the Coastal Carolina Camellia Society, the event will feature visits to Magnolia Plantation & Gardens and Middleton Place during peak camellia bloom season.

The Tokyo Congress was a really successful event. Let me thank all the staff, especially Professor Tanaka and Mr. Tadashi Karato. Let me congratulate the hotel Chinzanso for the excellent accommodation. We really enjoyed the three outstanding Oshima gardens. Thank you also to Professor Wang for organizing the excellent scientific session.

One of Japan’s oldest and most revered camellia trees, the Sanmen Tsubaki (the three-sides camellia) of Kumano Shrine, Massaki-cho, Ofunato City, will be recognised as a Significant Historic Ornamental Camellia Tree at the forthcoming ICS Congress in Tokyo in 2025.

A Significant Historical Ornamental Tree Award has been given to Germany’s most iconic and famous ancient camellia tree, dated at over 250 years old, a single red Camellia japonica linked to 18th century importation of camellias into Europe.
