Vale Pam Watson

Camellias Australia members were saddened and shocked by the news of Pam Watson's untimely death on Thursday 10th August 2023. Pam was a member of the NSWCRS and Camellia Ark Australia, Treasurer and Public Officer of Camellias Australia and a member of the International Camellia Society.

Pam was an active member of the NSW Camellia Research Society (NSWCRS) where she regularly attended and contributed to the monthly meetings and Camellia shows. Pam exhibited Camellia blooms at the monthly meetings, and she managed the NSWCRS Facebook page. Pam is a Past President of the NSWCRS and the Galston District Garden Club.

Last July, Pam entered blooms in the NSWCRS Annual Show and the Camellias Australia National Show where she won 1st prizes. Pam hybridized and registered several Camellia cultivars including, Camellia x 'Pam’s Kerrie Dancer' and C. x 'Kate's Cascade'. Pam was an energetic and passionate gardener, and she loved her garden where she cultivated more than 500 camellias. Among her favourite plants were camellias, of course, the Golden Camellia (Camellia nitidissima) and Hancock's Rhododendron (Rhododendron hancockii). Pam’s knowledge, passion, and energy will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

The Camellias Australia and International Camellia Society members send their deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to Pam’s family and friends.
